finding jar when you need it…

August 5, 2007 at 7:58 am (java)

It’s been always painful to find out which jar contains the given class. Till now way to resolve this issue was extract prime suspect jars and see if class is present or not. No need to mention that this was a painful process.

Recently I found a utility called jarscan which make life much easier!

To find the class ArrayList starting from the root of your c: drive type:
java -jar jarscan.jar -dir c:\ -class ArrayList

It will list all jars which contains class ArrayList!
